Fat and Thin
Two school friends meet by chance at a railway station, and the thin one starts to grovel as soon as he hears how high the fat one has risen. A sketch of about five hundred words.
The opening
На вокзале Николаевской железной дороги встретились два приятеля: один толстый, другой тонкий.
Two friends—one a fat man and the other a thin man—met at the Nikolaevsky station.
Тонкий же только что вышел из вагона и был навьючен чемоданами, узлами и картонками.
The thin man had just slipped out of the train and was laden with portmanteaus, bundles, and bandboxes.
