Erasure and Account Closure
This document sets out the procedure by which a User may obtain the deletion of an individual targum or the closure of an account, and the consequences of each. It gives effect to the right of erasure under Article 17 of the General Data Protection Regulation.
Export prior to closure
- Before closing an account the User is advised to obtain a copy of its contents by means of the function styled "Download your words" upon the profile page, which returns the whole of the account, comprising every word, phrase, meaning and note, in machine-readable form.
- No copy is retained by the Operator for the User's benefit after the period specified at clause 2.3, and none can be furnished thereafter.
Closure of an account
- The function styled "Delete account" upon the profile page initiates closure. Confirmation is required before the request takes effect.
- Upon confirmation the User is signed out of every browser and the account ceases to function immediately.
- Seven days thereafter the account record and all data associated with it are deleted in accordance with clause 1.5 of the Data Retention Schedule.
- No reason for closure is required and none is requested.
Withdrawal of a request for closure
- A request for closure may be withdrawn at any time within the period specified at clause 2.3 by written application to hello@targum.page.
- No function is provided within the Service for that purpose, the account having already been signed out of every browser.
- Upon expiry of that period the deletion is irreversible and cannot be effected in reverse by the Operator or by any other person.
Matters not reached by deletion
- Backups retain the fourteen most recent nightly copies, and an account may persist within one of them for a further period not exceeding fourteen days.
- Server access records persist until rotated.
- Text transmitted for translation is deleted by Anthropic PBC within thirty days of receipt in accordance with its own policy.
- Each of the foregoing is stated in full in the Data Retention Schedule.
Deletion of an individual targum
- The function styled "Delete" upon the corresponding row within the library deletes a single targum. The account is unaffected.
- The targum is held in the trash for seven days, during which period the number of days remaining is displayed and restoration is available by means of the function styled "Restore".
Material published in error
- A person who considers that material available through the Service infringes a right of that person may give notice under clause 6.1 of the Terms of Service.
